Techfest

At Techfest, IIT Bombay, Asia’s largest science and technology festival, I served as the Creatives Manager from April 2020 to May 2021, leading a 50+ member team to craft the design strategy for the festival's first-ever virtual edition due to COVID-19. I curated and designed over 200 digital posters to publicize the event and spearheaded the creation of 3 unique theme-based websites, achieving an outreach of 6.2 million+ hits. Previously, as a Creatives Coordinator, I designed 50+ communication materials for offline and online platforms and contributed to organizing national-level events.

Web Design

During my period at Techfest, I revamped the whole Enigma website to drive engagement and acquire new users. This increased the number of sign-in through this game by 195% as compared to last year.

What is Enigma?

As the creative manager of Techfest, I designed Enigma, an exciting crypt hunt, an epic fun and joy for the people who are locked and bored in their homes due to the Covid-19 lockdown. It has four rounds from decoding texts and symbols to playing with numbers.

Why to redesign?

UI ISSUE

Enigma is a game to engage the people who are getting bored in lockdown. The white background with a black text over it, makes it a dull website. It needs to be visually attractive from a UI perspective.

UX ISSUE

After talking to past teams, I got to know that the players used to call them to ask a lot of questions related to the website and had a hard time navigating to know the basic rules of the game.

Technorion is a series of diverse competitions conducted across six cities over India. It includes Techfest Olympiads, Meshmerize, CoDecode and Cozmo Clench.

Machine Mania

A brand new series for all the motorheads who get excited when it comes to the amazing realm of high performance vehicles.

Engagement

Managed YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram and Twitter handle by regularly posting normal & sponsored posts, innovative polls and stories.

Reflections

Learnings

  • Organizing a technical fest at this scale was a life-changing experience where I learned a lot and gained memories of a lifetime.
  • As a creative manager, I learned the value of working in a team where we exchanged knowledge and augmented each other's skills.
  • I also gained experience working as a leader and managing my team to deliver the creatives on time.
  • The team enabled me to brainstorm diverse ideas and develop the best possible designs.
  • Next Steps

  • During my tenure, I started working on curating the visual ideas to make Techfest a "brand" and develop a branding identity for it. I passed on my ideologies to my next manager to give them a headstart for future work.
  • I am mentoring the following creative managers to guide them and discuss the future vision.
